Delirium explores some intriguing themes, although obviously I was especially interested in the obvious parallels with the treatment of mental illness. To this day, sexually aware women and teens are considered somewhat suspect, and it’s not uncommon to see sexual behaviour attributed to mental illness, rather than authentic emotions. Women have been locked up, lobotomised, forcibly medicated, and tortured to get them to stop loving people, and they continue to be, even in this ‘enlightened’ era.
Some spoilers for general content, but not plot-specific.
